Get to know our history
The pistachio was introduced in Spain by Marcus Licinius Crassus, one of the richest men of ancient Rome, who brought this nut to the central part of the country around 50 BC. The exceptional quality of the pistachios grown in this region has stood out ever since.
Centuries later, it was the Moors who continued with the expansion of its cultivation in the peninsula, until the Moors, at a later time, decided to cut the male trees as they were not productive, which temporarily ended with pistachios in Spain.
Today, the Spanish pistachio has been recovered and has achieved a worldwide reputation thanks to its unique quality, aroma and flavor.
El Espino de Torote farm has the best climatic conditions for its cultivation: very cold winters, extremely hot summers and a dry environment, which enhances the unique flavor of our pistachios.

02

Grafters

Preparing the tree pits for planting.

Pistachio tree formation

The ideal time for the formation of the tree is during the winter, when it is in vegetative rest. We design our pistachio tree between branches the first time; the following year each branch will grow two new ones and the next year we will repeat the same operation.

Growth

During this period we will give the pistachio tree all the fertilizer required by the tree. In our case natural products.

06

Maturation

Our master pistachio farmer walks through the plantation to determine the optimal time for harvesting.

Production

The plantation ready for harvest.

Collection

Finally, after several years, the effort, the good work and patience, manage to bear fruit.
